The 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box fell to $123, its low, as Pokémon's in-print shelf lost 6% in a month and finished runs held
The 30th Celebration Elite Trainer Box tracked at $123 on October 21, its lowest mark since release and five weeks to the day after it came out, lower every week since its first, per Chase Society (October 23). Chase Society's Riftbound report the next day puts the box's first weekend at $179, so the ETB has given up $56, or 31%, in five weeks. These are Chase Society's tracked values for the product, read weekly, and they are prices, not individual sales.
The box is the sharpest line on a shelf that fell as a whole. Chase Society prices one of each of the 35 Pokémon sealed products still in print. On September 21 that shelf cost about $5,050; on October 21 it cost $4,750, down 6%. Every product type fell: the 13 bundles went from $949 to $856 (down 10%), the 13 Elite Trainer Boxes from $1,650 to $1,520 (down 7%) and the nine booster boxes from $2,460 to $2,370 (down 4%). Twenty-eight of the 35 cost less than a month earlier. The seven that rose were all bundles from the main Mega Evolution sets, and six of the seven cost under $75.
Finished runs held while the printer ran
The same report prices 89 boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes and bundles whose print runs have ended. That basket went from $129,000 on September 21 to $130,000 on October 21, up 1%, with as many products rising as falling. The in-print shelf lost 6% in the same month. The gap between the two baskets is the market read: a sealed product's price has nowhere to settle while new cases are still arriving, and the products that have stopped shipping have found their level.
The 30th has a precedent inside its own year. Chase Society notes that Ascended Heroes' Elite Trainer Box bottomed out about five weeks after release, in March, which is the point the 30th reached on October 21. Whether the 30th has found its floor will show in the next weekly read; the report's title says it is still looking.
Delta Reign is falling before it ships
The next set is already on the same curve. Delta Reign's Elite Trainer Box, tracked as advance orders, went from $122 on October 12 to $107 on October 21, slipping every day but one, and the set releases November 6. A box that loses 12% in nine days before release is being priced against the supply that is coming, and the 30th's path from $179 to $123 is the comparison every Delta Reign buyer can see.
What the numbers say for buyers
- A release-weekend price on an in-print Pokémon product has fallen in every case Chase Society tracks here: the 30th ETB by 31% in five weeks, Delta Reign's ETB by 12% before release, the whole in-print shelf by 6% in a month.
- The finished runs' 1% move in the same month is the floor the in-print products have not reached. The date that separates the two baskets is the end of the print run, and for the 30th that date is not published.
- Six of the seven in-print products that rose cost under $75, so the exceptions are the cheapest bundles, where a small dollar move is a large percentage.
What to watch next
- Delta Reign releases November 6 (Upcoming Releases); its ETB's tracked price on release weekend sets the next comparison.
- Chase Society's next weekly read will show whether the 30th ETB holds $123 or falls again; Ascended Heroes' five-week floor is the only in-year precedent for the timing.
